This installation recreates the structure of a traditional Korean door and places photographs of Western landscapes within its frame. The familiar traditional form serves as a boundary between interior and exterior, while the unfamiliar foreign scenery visible beyond it creates a sense of spatiotemporal displacement.
By framing Western imagery through a Korean lens, the artist examines the cultural perspectives and boundaries that intervene in our perception of objects. The contrast between the static structure of the door and the unfamiliar landscape captured within it reveals the coexistence of two different worlds within a single frame.
한국 전통문의 구조를 재현하고, 그 프레임 안에 서양의 풍경 사진을 배치한 설치 작업이다. 익숙한 전통 양식의 문은 내부와 외부를 가르는 경계가 되고, 그 너머로 보이는 낯선 타국의 풍경은 시공간의 이질감을 만들어낸다.
작가는 한국적 틀을 통해 서구의 이미지를 바라보게 함으로써, 우리가 대상을 인식할 때 개입되는 문화적 시각과 그 경계에 대해 질문한다. 정적인 문의 구조와 그 안에 갇힌 낯선 풍경의 대비는 서로 다른 두 세계가 하나의 프레임 안에서 공존하는 상태를 보여준다.
